How important to back up WordPress
One day, I turn on the computer to update the beloved blog. The idea is already in the brain, the material already in hand. Just write it down live. After turning on the computer, I immediately opened the beloved firefox and go to the login page my blog. But it would not surprise me because the login page appears but the page “404 Not found”. Well,, I’m confused, why it could be like this. I immediately check 000webhost (where I was hosting) and immediately check the file manager. My amazement, it turns out all files and folders in it is lost. Nooo.. It felt like fainting .. Worse yet, I have not had time to backup. I want to send a protest email to the webhost, but my intention was to undo. It’s a free service, after all this time I was not harmed, even benefited. Moreover, where would they respond. Finally I got events gracefully.
The story above illustrates how important backup is. Backups are very important to file as well as our blog articles still survive if suddenly something happens that is not desirable. Most people are lazy to do backups. They argue backup is something that is troublesome and time-consuming. Yet the reality is different. Backup is an easy job. It did not take long to do so. Even you can set the backup can be done automatically. Then how do I perform backups on WordPress?
I will explain how to back up my case in accordance with the above. Just info, I use WordPress version 2.7.1. To do Bacup, select Tools -> Export. You will be taken to a page export. For the option “Restrict Author” select only All Authors. Then click the “Download Export File”. This button will save your post, pages, tags, categories, etc.. into the XML file.
Then to restore the backup that we have done again, use the Import menu. There was a lot of restore options. Because we were doing wordpress backups, then we choose WordPress. After that select the XML file we downloaded earlier. Then click the “Upload file and Import”. And, tadaaa, re your post on the blog mejeng with beautiful beloved.
For an alternative, you can use the WordPress Database Backup plugin. Once you activate this pugin, you can access it via the menu Tools -> Backup. There you can set whatever you want to backup. You also can choose the backup method, whether to save the direct to computer, backup mengirimfile via email, or upload to localhost. You can also set the Scheduled Backup. There is provided the option backup frequency. For those of you who rarely blog, just select the Once Weekly. But for those of you who every day blogging I recommend selecting a frequency that is more frequent.
